The granddaughter of immigrants, an experienced and respected leader in the San Diego business community, and a national advocate for housing and immigration reform, Marisa Calderon is uniquely positioned to deliver results for residents of California’s 50th Congressional District. Marisa knows hardworking families deserve more than partisan rhetoric or unrealistic promises from career politicians — and she is ready with solutions for critical issues such as addressing affordable housing, fixing our immigration system, and creating financial opportunities.
For nearly a decade, Marisa has served as Executive Director of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals — a nationwide network of more than 30,000 members. Also a board member of the Hispanic Wealth Project, Marisa has spoken as an expert on affordable housing and immigration reform on NPR’s Marketplace and at the Aspen Institute, Mortgage Bankers Association, Consumer Federation of America, the FDIC, and the National Fair Housing Alliance. Professional organizations have named Marisa a “Woman of Influence” and recognized her as a powerful leader in residential real estate.
Marisa is a graduate of Emerge America’s program, which recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office. She earned her BA from the University of California at Berkeley and lives in San Diego County with her husband and their two children.
